Racing at Summit Point
It was finally our Rookie race weekend at Summit Point! Dan started off with a wonderful third place finish in his racing debut! Doug Lucy, John and Rene Beazley, and others joined the Lewis for a terrific weekend. BTW, Harry has a black helmet and Dan has a white helmet in the Cobra, so you can see who is driving.
The weekend featured three races for Dan and high performance school for Harry, Doug, John, and the Lewis'. The first race was from the back and Dan quickly moved up through the field and finished a surprising third in class. Mechnical problems and one of the top drivers being absent played a big role. Our eVisory car was missing a little power at the top end, but was substantially improved thanks to the efforts of Dan and Bryan at Dobyns Motorsports.
The second race ended up with a fourth place finish - again starting from the back thanks to the rookie status.
The third race was very competitive. The car lost a bolt on one of the brake calipers even though we had specifically checked it. Dan ended up sixth in that race that featured plenty of hard driving. It turns out that we didn't have a replacement bolt, but one of the Spec Cobra guys was having problems with his car and generously offered us a bolt from his car so we could get back out. Fortunately, he not only managed to fix his original problem, but found a replacement bolt so he could join us in the race. These NASA guys have been incredibly nice to us. We clearly made the right decision to join this group.
The fourth race was another surprising fourth place finish and was - by far - the most competitive race. It was wheel to wheel racing from start to finish with lots of tight racing everywhere on the track!
Doug Lucy only got to run for Saturday, but he did very well and was nice and smooth in his BMW. He was actually pulling away from the more powerful Mustangs and other cars just by running nice lines and working the car.
John Beazley pulled the slicks on his fun-filled Dodge Viper. Once the track was dry, John was running some incredible times for his first time on the course. He was actually faster than the Cobra and was getting to 160MPH on the straight away. For spectators, John was clearly one of the favorites.
Dave and Sam Lewis rejoined Wade Witmer's Spec Miata with Wade acting as the instructor. Dave was pulling more powerful cars and you could just watch Sam get better as the weekend went by.
Bobbie and Rene took care of the food and even ended up serving as trophy girls! See?

We learned a lot from this weekend and think we ended up gaining the third most number of points during the weekend. However many points we scored didn't really matter - we were having a blast!
