Ugh.  New paint on the Cobras and a new engine for the Porsche.  What does it get us?  Well, two hits for the Cobras and blown engine for Bobbie's Porsche.  The eVisory Cobra ended up a new graphics set and we thought the car was looking pretty good.

Bobbie started off on Saturday with some of her best driving ever.  She qualified a very impressive 12th against some good drivers.  Certainly one of her best qualifying sessions ever.  This weekend showed Bobbie learning more about the tactical side of racing and she put it to good use as she opened up a good lead on many of the cars and was keeping pace with the front runners.  Unfortunately, she made an error in trying to late-brake into a corner and spun the car which let almost the entire field get by.  In previous races, Bobbie would have gotten upset and fumed, but she just put her head down and promptly went back to picking off cars.  She would have picked off a lot more, but an accident in the race resulted in a red flag.  Still, it may have been her finest racing of her career.  Sunday we had high hopes that she would continue her strong performance, but her engine suffered a catastrophic failure after just 200 yards of practice.  Very frustrating.

For Dan and Harry the weekend was a little different.  Dan qualified with a fast time, but a stalled Viper Competition Coupe at the standing start left him in a bad position and in third position for the first lap - and the rest of the race - as he was unable to quite close the gap with the front-runners.  Harry continued to pick up the pace, but the leader had a minor slide and ended up causing some minor damage to the shiny new paint.  Still, the lap times were plenty fast.

With Bobbie out for Sunday, Harry and Dan focused on their final race before the upcoming National championships.  This time, Dan had a strong start and was the overall leader for the first laps before the Viper caught him.  Harry had a great start and was within striking distance of the leaders as well.  Dan was running first in class and second overall when the third-place car passed him and a Mustang under yellow.  Not wanting to be DQ'd himself, Dan stayed behind the Mustang, but the fourth place car smashed him from behind.  Dan limped across the finish line in third overall, but it isn't clear at this time what the official finishing order would be.  Depending on what the official decide, Harry will finish second or third in class for his strongest finish in four years.

Tough weekend of racing.  Back to engine work and fiberglass repair.  Siiiigh.  Seems like the rewards for good driving should be something a little different.
