Since I had to give a speech in Atlanta on Tuesday, I had originally planned to drive to Salt Lake City and fly from there since it would save some time. But I was worried that Donner Pass might be closed for snow and decided that Los Angeles was the safer bet.. Sure enough, my judgement looked good as snow rolled into the Sierra Nevada mountains and they closed Interstate-80.

So imagine my surprise as I rolled into Los Angeles county in a heavy snow! It's three days before Spring and there is snow and strong gusts everywhere! This is NOT what I was expecting. I made it through okay, only to discover the next morning that I-5 had closed just 90 minutes after I drove through. The 3-7 inches of snow caused traffic accidents and a closure that lasted until mid-day. Fortunately, I made it through, got to the hotel, and caught my morning flight. After just missing the pile-up in New Mexico on the outbound trip, I decided that I had been pretty lucky so far!
