Lake Alamanor is an area in Northern California
that just might be 'the next Tahoe'.  It's about the same distance from the
Bay area and features a beautiful alpine lake with quaint little shops and B&Bs.
Unlike Tahoe, it still has a real community feel and no big chain hotels. Plumas
County also highest the highest concentration of snowmobiles in California and
great trails with sweeping mountain-top views.  Nearby is the Lassen Forest
and all the almond tree farms.  Neat area and certainly worth a stop next
time you are in NorCal, especially in the winter.
