Playing in New Orleans

The tour guide/boat captain for the swamp tour was a big bear of a man who claimed to live in the bayou and have never travelled and seen snow. Some of it was probably an act, but it was still entertaining and it was clear he knew what he was talking about: we all agreed that even a short trip into the bayou took a special knowledge to get you back out again. I have been in swamps before and figured that I could at least determine some basic direction based on sunlight and water flow. When it comes to the bayou, I was wrong: you can easily see how those stories of some hermit kidnapping a person are true. In the bayou, even if you could figure out direction, you aren't going anywhere without someone who knows how to get around.
